What's Happening @ SMC?

RAY & LAURAL HULSE are planning a 2 week Missions trip to Haiti in October and asking for your help with fundraising. On this trip, they will be working with several different organizations where they will be exploring God's call in their life for possible long term missions to Haiti in the future. If you would like to donate, please make the check out to SMC and indicate it is for Ray & Laura's mission fund. They still need approximately $750 to make this trip possible. The trip is coming up quickly, and they need the money asap in order to fulfill their financial commitment.
THE LOST & FOUND BIN is overflowing again. If you have lost something, please check in the back office. All items not collected by September 5th will be donated or tossed.
A MENTORS MEETING will take place on Tuesday, August 31st from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at SMC. If you are already an SMC Mentor, or have intrest in becoming a Mentor, then you are invited to join us at this meeting to learn more about mentoring/discipleship at SMC. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Cory.
SUMMER'S LAST BLAST IS ALMOST HERE! Join us for a great time in the country at the Cooper's house. The event will begin Sunday afternoon, September 5th and run through 2:00pm on Monday, September 6th. There is camping space on the lawns, as well as space for your camping trailer or RV. There will also be a raffle for guest rooms in the house as well! Join us for great cooking, crafts, hikes, and a special backyard baptism service Sunday night!
A BAPTISM SERVICE is being planned at SMC on September 5th at the Cooper's home. If you are interested in being baptized, please indicate your interest on the Communication Card and one of our staff will be in touch with you. For an explaination of the Bible's teaching on baptism, see our Resource Center for a complimentary message from Pastor Cory untitled "What's the Meaning of Baptism?".
A LEADERSHIP/MINISTRY SUMMIT will be taking place on Wednesday, September 8th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm at SMC. If you are serving in any capacity at SMC, then please consider joining us for this "Leadership Training" event where you will be given tools to help you in your ministry at SMC. WE would like to being at 6:30pm sharp with a potluck dinner. Persons with the last names A-H should bring a dessert, I-P a main dish, and Q-Z a side dish or salad. Childcare will be provided.
SMALL GROUPS will be starting the week of September 12th - 18th. Sign-up sheets are available in the lobby starting today and we have a variety of groups and days available. If you have any questions about our groups, please contact Pastor Cory.
DUST TO GLORY: Join Pastor Cory beginning on Wednesday, September 15th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm as he teaches a DVD based overview of the New Testament entitled "Dust to Glory". Cost to participate: $15 for the study guide. Childcare is provided if your children register for SMC's Wednesday night kid's program called "FaithWeaver Friends".
FAITHWEAVER FRIENDS will be happening weekly at SMC starting Wednesday, September 15th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. This is a great mid-week program that is kid AND volunteer-friendly. Every week kids will learn a Bible Point, and then rotate through several Discovery Stations with their small group friends. They will play games, have fun at the Surprise Station, have a fun snack, get the chance to journal in their very own Faith Journal and take home a weekly challenge to help them put their faith into action. Cost is $20/child, however, if you are attending "Dust to Glory" or volunteering to help with FaithWeaver Friends, there is a $5 discount/child. You may register in the lobby at the Small Group table.
A PASTOR'S DESSERT will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Pastor Cory and Trinia's home. If you are new to SMC or have not had an opportunity to attend a previous Pastor's Dessert, then please complete a Communication Card and an invitation will be mailed to you.
THE COMPASSIONATE BOLDNESS SYMPOSIUM will be taking place on Saturday, October 9th from 8:30am to 12:30pm at SMC. If you want to better understand the religious and social culture of Utah, then we invite you to attend. This seminar is designed to help you know the key differences between what we believe and the culture we live in. Cost is $25/individual or $40/couple. You can register online at Compassionate Boldness or registration forms along with more information are available at the Resource Center. Place the form along with the fee in an offering envelope and drop it into the offering box.
